Around 20 shops burnt down in Kabul

Around 20 shops were gutted as fire broke out in a market in the Afghan capital of Kabul, police said Saturday.


The fire erupted in cloth market in Taimor Shahi area, limits of 1st police district, this morning engulfing several shops, said Baseer Mujahid, spokesman of Kabul police.

He said the fire reduced around 20 shops to ashes, adding the firefighters extinguished the fire.

He said it was not yet clear how much damage was caused by the fire.

Eyewitness said firefighters could not reach the site in half an hour. The fire brigade department is located one kilometer from the blaze site.
